Colombian politician Martín Alfonso Mejía, who hails from Calima, is under fire for leaked footage of him performing a striptease while partying at a nightclub. The shocking images show Mejía taking off his clothes while gyrating around several young women.

Mejía began his outrageous antics at the nightclub by first stripping off his shirt. Mejía soon pulled his pants down, inappropriately revealing his private parts. The footage ends with an unknown person putting their arm on Mejía’s shoulder, which seemed to be a way to tell the Mayor to stop his bizarre antics.

Making matters even worse, Mejía’s shocking display occurred during Colombia’s Holy Week. Many of Mejía’s fellow politicians are outraged by his actions, with Colombia’s House of Representatives member Duvalier Sanchez Arango saying, “Concerning the inappropriate acts of Mayor Martín Mejía of Calima in Valle, we are calling for a disciplinary investigation by the Attorney General’s Office and the Green Party.”
Mejía claimed that his actions at the nightclub occurred because he was drugged, but the manager of the club believes this claim to be false. Mejía was under fire about 6 months prior to this incident when he jumped on the stage during a music festival to inform the concertgoers that he is a corrupt politician. It is not clear whether Mejía will be disciplined over his actions, but an investigation is currently underway.
This event brings to mind another instance of a politician behaving inappropriately during a night of debauchery. Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin was under fire back in August 2022 when she was filmed intimately dancing with a random man at a party while married. On the matter, Marin said, “I do my job. I learn from this. This week has not been easy. It has been difficult. But I want to believe that people look at the work we do, not what we do in our free time.”
