If you didn’t know, the 1980s classic “Footloose” was set in a fictional town of Bomont.

Stifling under the iron fists of John Lithgow, Bomont is not so different from Houston’s neighboring Beaumont, Texas, where, in the 1960s, an ordinance was passed that outlawed dancing for about a year.

But, as you can see, Ray Mason is a modern Ren MacCormack shaking things up. At his daughter Sadie’s father-daughter dance, Mason caught the 24k fever and danced his way into the hearts of over 3.5 million viewers.
In an interview with The Chronicle, Mason said he and his family just moved to Beaumont, and the dance was one of the ways they were looking to meet new friends and neighbors.

But Mason said his cutting-loose moves were only second to the apple of his eye.
“(Sadie) is the real performer. She’s going to be somebody one day,” he said.
No word on if the 12 year old has had to prove herself in any games of tractor chicken, but we’ll give it some time.
