The Blindside:

There’s nothing audiences love more than hearing that something was based on a true story. This is no different. The real life mom that Sandra Bullock portrayed in the story of micael oher movie was Leigh Anne Tuohy. She took the young homeless teen into her home and included him into her family seamlessly.

The Incredibles:

The Incredibles was full of some great moments. from Edna’s haircut to strong denial of canes, to the enemy guy’s gravity-defying red hair and temper. Mrs incredible, i.e., Elastigirl, was the mom of all moms. Voiced by Holly Hunter, she literally fought outside forces coming for her family and managed to mother her kids AND be a great wife all at the same time. Like… come on!! She did that!

Terms of Endearment:

Shirley MacLaine and Debra Winger play a convincing mother-daughter duo. MacLaine plays Aurora Greenway, a widow whose daughter Emma defies her mother’s wishes when she gets married. When her marriage ends and later learns she is sick, her mother is there to catch her in the heart-tugging tale.

The Sound of Music:

In perhaps her most iconic role, Julie Andrews singing rtha tth ehills are alive with the sound of music and about raindrops on roses and warm woolen mittens. She wasn’t the mother to the Von Trapp children, but she was surely a mother figure. So much so that their father fell in love with her and proposed. By a technicality, she was a stepmom, but she and those kids had a real bond.

Freaky Friday:

Who didn’t love watching Lindsay Lohan and Jamie lee wake up in each other’s bodies and then start screaming and freaking out until they come to some type of appreciation for the life that the other is going through, moving towards that best friend mom and daughter place? This film adapts the original Disney film in 1995, starring Shelley Long and Gaby Hoffmann.

Mean Girls:

We gotta talk about Amy Poehler as the “cool mom, not a regular mom,” Mrs. George. Yes, she gets included for that alone. If it’s been a while, she was the mother of the meanest of all mean girls, Regina Geroge. So, maybe she missed a few points for raising a nice daughter. But she kept a nice home and had that cute dog. So, some more points for sure.

Waiting to Exhale:

Angela Bassett played a mother that surely many an relate to. Her character was Bernadine “Bernie” Harris, who is a stay at home mom. She sacrificed her dream to be a caterer to raise her children and support her husband. Things definitely get spicy when her husband starts to wild. Also, shout out to her for giving girls the idea to burn a bad man’s stuff!

Little Women:

Many a time has this film been made and remade. The story always remains the same. The March sisters (Meg, Beth, Jo, and Amy) are always fighting to be their own people in their own lives. But, their mother is always Based onthe story by Louisa May Alcott, with the matrirc character, Marmee, who is always there for support and offering motherly love and advice.

Mamma Mia:

A movie adored by all, given a little extra juice with Abba’s vocal talents, of course, Meryl Streep. Ah, a classic tale of a girl with a momma looking to determine which is her dad right before her big day– her wedding. The mother-daughter bond is a strong one and one that many can relate to. And, of course, sing along to.
