Celebrated actress and Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow has caused quite a stir on social media after showing up to the first day of her ongoing trial with an interesting choice of eyewear. Paltrow is being dragged on various social media sites after images were taken of her in the courtroom wearing Aviator glasses with a retro style, which people have dubbed “Jeffrey Dahmer glasses.” Paltrow, 50, is currently standing trial for an incident in Utah that occurred back in 2016 where she was accused of skiing erratically and crashing into a fellow skier, leaving the man with a brain injury, among other issues.

Paltrow is accused by plaintiff Dr. Terry Sanderson, who is a retired optometrist, of skiing down a hill in an “out of control” manner, before colliding with him. She then reportedly kept skiing down the hill, never stopping to see if Sanderson was injured or not. Sanderson says he suffered a “brain injury, four broken ribs, and other serious injuries.” Sanderson filed a lawsuit against Paltrow in 2019, which is just now going to trial.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Trial Attire

Paltrow is being called out on the internet for her choice of glasses, which are a pair of Caddis that cost $289. The glasses are also available on Paltrow’s Goop website. Paltrow has worn the glasses before, but the public has deemed this a poor choice of eyewear for a case of this nature. Many people have turned to Instagram and Twitter to comment about Paltrow’s appearance at her trial.

One Instagram user commented, “I like her serial killer vibe.” Another said, “Jeffrey Dahmer meets Gwyneth Paltrow.”

One Twitter user joked “Gwyneth Paltrow is literally going for the #Dahmer look at this ski accident trial… wtf? Not very on brand for @goop.” Another Twitter user quipped “These are exactly the kind of 1980s aviator specs you should wear when being sued by a retired optometrist.”

This type of Aviator glasses worn by Paltrow was made infamous by Milwaukee serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, who murdered and mutilated 17 men between 1978 and 1991. Dahmer’s case has recently been in the limelight again after the release of Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series, Dahmer.

Paltrow’s lawyers claim she did not flee the scene of the accident, and Paltrow is counter-suing Sanderson for $1, claiming Sanderson was partially blind at the time of the incident and already had pre-existing conditions when the accident occurred.
