During America’s Got Talent: All-Stars finale red carpet event in Los Angeles last November, Simon Cowell shared with ET’ that he has a specific reason for wanting to revive The X Factor. He believes that singing competitions like The X Factor, American Idol, and AGT are still necessary, even in a digital age where social media platforms like YouTube and TikTok offer opportunities for people to achieve stardom.

Cowell thinks that these competitions are essential since they give undiscovered talent a chance to showcase their abilities, which is why he is keen on bringing The X Factor back. In fact, there are reports that The X Factor is in talks for a revival on NBC, and Cowell would love to haven none other than Britney Spears join him in this venture.
“When I did Idol, it was with the rationale there has to be a number of people who are brilliant who can’t get record deals,” Cowell stated. “Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, it was absolutely worthwhile. And it’s the same with X Factor. It was Harry Styles, One Direction, Camila [Cabello], Fifth Harmony. I mean, we found so many great people.”

“I think with so many people trying to get record deals at the moment, I would argue there’s probably more of a need for a show like this again, so for that reason I would do it.”
Cowell also shared where he’d like to film the new season of The X Factor. “If I had to choose between England and America, I would do it here, 100 percent,” he stated.
In 2004, Cowell created The X Factor in the United Kingdom, and the show premiered in the United States in 2011. Britney Spears joined the American version as a judge in season 2, replacing Nicole Scherzinger. However, the show was canceled in 2013 after just one season with Spears as a judge. Despite this short run, Cowell was very impressed with Spears and the impact she made during her time on the show.
“We worked together on X-Factor and I would work with her again, honest, in a heartbeat because she’s smart,” Cowell said during interview in November. “I like her a lot.”
“Britney, with her choreography, choice of songs, her styling, she is super, super smart,” he revealed. “And if you’re known by your first name, you’re a star. You know, the more we talk about it, it’s kind of like, yeah, we should do it … totally encouraged.”
