Mark Wahlberg is being slammed on social media for presenting a 2023 SAG award to an Asian cast several decades after he brutally assaulted Vietnamese American men. Several critics took to Twitter to call out the organization that puts on the award show, SAG-AFTRA,  for having the actor hand the trophy for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture to the actors of “Everything Everywhere All at Once”  on Sunday.

“How ironic that Mark Wahlberg, who attacked Asians when he was a young man in Boston, announced the big winner of the #SAGAwards2023 : the mainly Asian American ensemble cast of #EverythingEverywhereAllAtOnce Wahlberg did not seem happy,” one wrote.

“Everything Everywhere All at Once” Wins!

“Mark Wahlberg was arrested for hate crimes. He’s racist. An Asian man lost his sight after Mark beat him and another Asian man to the brink of death. Having him present an award to ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ seems extremely sinister,” one Twitter user said.

“Good for Mark Wahlberg, standing on a stage with all those Asian people without assaulting any of them,” another commented.

“I’m a @sagaftra member, and I am deeply disappointed by the @SAGawards decision to have Mark Wahlberg present an award that they had to know had a high chance of going to a mostly Asian cast. Incredibly poor taste, given his past crimes,” a fourth wrote.

“REALLY interesting that Will Smith wasn’t invited to present Best Actress while Mark Wahlberg is presenting the ensemble award to a film with a predominantly Asian cast when he punched and nearly blinded a Vietnamese man,” another noted, referencing the Smith being banned from awards shows after slapping Chris Rock onstage at the Oscars back in 2022.

Some did go on to defend the 51-year-old, saying that he committed the crimes in the ’80s and even served jail time for it.

Exposing Mark Wahlberg’s RACIST Past

“So everyone is reacting over Mark Wahlberg presenting an award to a film with a predominantly asian cast because of a crime he did over 30 years ago to an asian bec of his drug issues then served time and did peace with the offended party and turned his life around,” one person said defending Wahlberg’.

“Everything Everywhere All at Once” Made SAGs History with a total of four wins. The lead actress, Michelle Yeoh,  became the first Asian woman to take home Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in Leading Role.

Wahlberg’s appearance at the award show came nearly 35 years after he violently attacked two Asian men back when he was only 16. In April 1988, the actor knocked a middle age Vietnamese American man unconscious with a stick calling him a “Vietnam f*king sh*t.”

Later that day, the actor attacked a second Vietnamese American man and punched him in the eye. When police went to arrest him he allegedly stated “ I’ll tell you now, that mother f***** whose head I split open.” He went on the claim after the attacks that he was high on PCP at that time. He was charged with attempted murder and pleaded guilty to felony assault but was sentenced to two years in jail and only served 45 days before being released.

This wasn’t the first history of racism that the actor has been involved in. This after he publicly hurled slurs at Black children when he was 15 and threw rocks at them. This resulted in a civil action that was settled back in 1986. In 2014 he received a pardon for his crimes, but the request was dropped a year later.

  1. Are we ever going to forgive a 15 year old boy for being an asshole? I am a liberal and don’t like how people only look at person’s past and don’t look at how they may have change. Walberg is probably a bit of an asshole even now as we all are to some degree but not as big an asshole as southie kid running around the streets being a dick. Crap like this is what gives stupid Maggot
Republicans ammo for their cry baby Cancel culture crap.
