In Amazon Video’s new series Daisy Jones & The Six, Riley Keough decided to pay tribute to her grandfather. Fans were actually the ones who discovered the tribute, after she was seen wearing a guitar strap in one scene that bears a striking resemblance to the one used by her grandfather, Elvis Presley, in his ’68 Comeback Special on NBC. However, a spokesperson for the show has confirmed that the strap is actually a replica of the New Yorker/Woodstock model created by Ace Strap company.

Daisy Jones & The Six, based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s well-known novel, recounts the story of a fictional band that gained immense popularity in the ’70s before abruptly disbanding. In the second episode, Keough’s character Daisy Jones performs a song called “Two Against Three” while sporting the red patterned guitar strap, which some viewers have compared to the one used by Presley. The scene is set at The Troubadour in Los Angeles, and the series starts with each member’s individual background before focusing on the group’s rise to fame.

Speaking to BuzzFeed, Keough revealed that the guitar used throughout Daisy Jones & the Six is actually her own. “It was my personal guitar, and I wanted to use it in the show,” she stated.
The guitar strap in question has gained was actually popular even before Elvis Presley wore it, as it was also worn by Jimi Hendrix during his legendary performance at the 1969 Woodstock music festival. Denise Wingate, the costume designer for Daisy Jones & the Six, revealed that the show pays tribute to Presley in various ways. She collaborated with rock and roll designer Love Melody to create two costume pieces, who had previously designed outfits for the iconic singer in the 1970s.
“She actually made two jumpsuits for Elvis Presley, so I had her make two beautiful, long coats for the show,” Wingate told PEOPLE. “One is a denim leather patchwork long coat and the other a beautiful rust leather. She made those. I thought it was nice to bring that back in the fold and have a little bit of that history.”
