Fleetwood Mac keyboardist and singer Christine McVie passed away in November 2022. A stroke has been revealed as the cause of her death.

According to The Blast, the musician’s death certificate confirmed that she died of an “ischaemic stroke.” McVie was also suffering from a heart arrythmia (irregular heartbeat) and metastatic cancer (cancer that has spread throughout the body) at the time.
Fellow Fleetwood Mac bandmembers gathered to pay tribute to the keyboardist at a memorial service in Malibu on January 9, NME tells us. Mick Fleetwood delivered an especially touching eulogy in her honor, which he also posted to Instagram.
“I think she would have been truly amazed at all the attention and celebrations of her music around the world and in total disbelief at the fact they were closing down sporting events to pay tribute to her. But that was our Christine – she was a North country girl from beginning to end, never caring about the fluff,” he said.

Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks also honored Christine McVie while performing “Landslide” on the first night of her Two Icons, One Night tour with Billy Joel. Images of Nicks and McVie were projected on stage during the song.
According to Louder, the musician became emotional at the end, saying, “There’s really not much to say. We just pretend that she’s still here. That’s how I’m trying to deal with it.”
Many other artists have paid their respects to the late Rumours keyboardist through song. People tells us that Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Raitt joined Mick Fleetwood on stage during the 65th Grammy Awards in memory of McVie.
“I am so sad to hear of Christine McVie going on to heaven,” Crow shared on Twitter. “The world feels weird without her here. What a legend and an icon and an amazing human being. RIP.”
