Logan Paul is used to controversy by now. The YouTuber has found himself in the middle of a few of them over the years. None of his controversies has received as much attention as the video he posted in 2018 from Aokigahara, Japan.

In the video Paul visits what is referred to as the “Japanese Suicide Forest.” While there he and his crew came upon the body of a deceased man and they posted the video on YouTube. Shortly after the controversy erupted, he deleted the video. But the damage was already done.
The controversy didn’t just cost him some followers. It cost him a relationship with his hero, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. In a recent appearance on the True Geordie Podcast, he talked about losing the respect of one of his heroes.

“This was one of the saddest moments of my life, what I’m about to say.” Paul said on the podcast. “After Japan happened, I obviously found myself in a hole, rightfully so, that I had never been in before. Extremely low, mentally, and I got a call from my publicist, who also repped Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.”
The Rock wanted Paul to remove every video and picture they had done together. She added, “maybe in the future the relationship can be reconciled, but for now, he basically wants nothing to do with you.” Which Paul understood, calling the decision to post the 2018 video a “grotesque error.”
Paul felt like prior to the incident he had a good relationship with The Rock. The two had a good relationship and after it ended he was sad because his hero wanted nothing to do with him.
“I feel like we had a healthy relationship, an open line of communication. I was so sad that my hero wanted nothing to do with me,” Paul said. Although he was sad, he understood it, “I was sad because I understood it. I really f***** up.”

Paul also revealed that The Rock did reach out to him at a later date. According to Paul, The Rock slid into his DMs on Instagram, but he didn’t respond.
