Apparently, all you really need in life is a little motivation and a couple of trash cans. Oh, and a strong desire to take what doesn’t belong to you, all in an effort to get rich quickly.

After that, you only need to avoid getting caught.
This seemed to be the theory of a group of four jewelry thieves — three men and a woman — who were able to lift $225,000 in rare pieces from a show in the Manhattan neighborhood of Chelsea.
Two of the men were caught on a street surveillance video, pushing along their trash can full of goodies while wearing COVID facemasks.
“It happened in the blink of an eye,” a woman named Julia, who owned the items stolen in Chelsea, told the New York Post.
The thieves are believed to be in the 35-45 age range, police said.

It’s unclear how these knuckleheads even made it into the show, given the amount of security at these events. Most are also by invitation only.
“It was the worst box he could have taken from us,” Julia said of the heist, via the Post. “It was all my favorite, newest antique stuff. It wasn’t just generic chains and charms.
“I didn’t immediately notice it was gone because I thought it was in a secure location. It wasn’t until I ran out of other boxes to unpack that [it became clear] it wasn’t where it was supposed to be. I was thinking I was just a crazy woman, that I placed it somewhere and misplaced it.”
So next time you have some jewelry missing, you may want to check the trash.
“I think it’s outrageous that [the thieves] got out of the building like that,” Julia added.
While police apparently have several leads, no arrests have yet been made in the case.
