Anne Heche is in a coma and has not regained consciousness after her widely publicized car crash on Sunday.

The actress is in far worse condition than previously believed. While media reports yesterday said she’d be OK, a Heche representative told People Monday that she’s in critical condition.
People said it obtained a statement on Anne Heche’s condition from one of her representatives.
“She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” the statement allegedly said. “She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”
Anne Heche drove her blue Mini Cooper into a garage and then into a home, which immediately burst into flames, on Saturday.
Heche, 53, was transported to the hospital, where she appears to still be. She suffered burns as a result of the accident, but media reports said she was in stable condition.
More information about Anne Heche’s health status on Monday was not immediately available.
Anne Heche’s Horrific Car Crash
Los Angeles police wouldn’t name Heche, but did tell Entertainment Tonight a solo passenger vehicle “struck and came to rest well within a 738-square foot two-story home, causing structural compromise and erupting in heavy fire” before the fire department showed up.
Actor Thomas Jane, once romantically linked to Heche, released a statement to the Daily Mail in which he said that she is “expected to pull through.”
Actor James Tupper, who has a son with Heche, posted a message of his own to social media.
“Thoughts and prayers for this lovely woman, actress and mother tonight anneheche,” he wrote, “we love you.”
Back in 2000, Heche drove from Los Angeles to Fresno, parked her SUV on the roadside, and wearing only a bra and shorts, walked through the desert, stopping only to knock on the door of a stranger’s house. She later admitted to taking ecstasy at the time.
