When Adele stopped mid-performance during her Grammys tribute to George Michael because she didn’t feel she was delivering the song just right, few people probably remembered that the singer practically predicted her restart on a February 2016 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Adele fans probably do recall the 2016 Grammys, when she pushed through audio issues during a performance of her song “All I Ask.” A week later on Ellen’s show, she offered up a flawless version of the tune.

When she joined Ellen for a conversation, Adele opened up about the onstage troubles at the the Grammys.

She said if something similar ever happened to her again on live TV, she would demand a redo: “Next time I have any sound issues, I am gonna stop. ‘Sorry, that’s not working for me. If we have time to do it again, let’s do it,'” she said.

And guess what? She asked for a redo Sunday night.

This time, it wasn’t audio issues that caused the restart, but rather her own perfectionist tendencies as she performed Michael’s 1996 hit “Fastlove Part 1.” Michael died on Christmas Day 2016 at age 53.

Adele stopped her performance and dropped some curse words that needed to be bleeped. “I f—-d up, I can’t do it again like last year,” she told the star-studded crowd at Los Angeles’ Staples Center. “I can’t mess this up for him.”

She started over and delivered an amazing rendition of the song that brought some in the audience to tears.

DeGeneres was watching Sunday night and tweeted to the pop star she can have a do-over any time she wants.
