The animation shows exactly what happened to Renner during his accident. The images depict an animated version of Renner getting out of the snowplow he was operating before he was pushed forward by the device’s moving tracks, causing him to fall forward onto his face.

The Details of Jeremy Renner’s Snowplow Accident

While the animation was shown in the interview, Renner detailed the incident as well, stating that he was trying to help his nephew get his truck out of the snow at the time of the accident. He said, “I led in the snowcat with the truck behind it to finish off the last 20-30 yards of the driveway to get it onto the paved area.” When questioned further by Sawyer, Renner added, saying, “I did turn it around, correct. The cat kept sliding on the icy road because we’re on the paved area but it’s all ice and it kept sliding.”

Concerned for his nephew‘s safety, Renner said he forgot to set the snowplow’s parking brake as he decided to stand on the plows rolling tracks. Using the animation as a guide for his story, Renner said, “I’m standing on this. I wanted to see where my nephew is, I just happened to be the dummy standing on the dang track a little bit seeing if my nephew’s there.”

Renner continued, saying, “Shouldn’t be [outside] the vehicle when you’re operating. It’s kind of like driving a car with your foot outside the car. It is what it was and it’s my mistake and I paid for it.” Renner also revealed to Sawyer that his eye was bulging out of the socket as a result of the accident, saying, “I believe I could see my eye with my other eye.” The incident left Renner severely injured with 30 broken bones, but he seems to now be making a smooth recovery.
