Cameron Diaz is pulling a Tom Brady as she’s reportedly retiring yet again from acting. She formally retired in 2018 while pregnant with her daughter, Raddix, but came back after Jamie Foxx asked her to star in his new Netflix film. But Jamie Foxx reportedly just had an epic meltdown on-set, and now Diaz is over it.

Cameron Diaz Was Already Having a Hard Time Being Away From Her Daughter

“These back-to-back 10-hour workdays have been a lot on her, and she hates being away from Raddix,” an insider told Daily Mail. “Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world.”

Raddix was born in 2019 and is only 3 years old. But with her mom working all day, it’s basically been up to Diaz’s husband, rocker Benji Madden, to do all the parenting.

“Benji is supportive of everything that Cameron does, but it has been a lot on him,” the source added. “Although she has gotten to see her family while shooting the film, it is just not the same.”

That can be difficult for all parties involved as those early years are so important — and you can’t press rewind. But making matters worse is Jamie Foxx, whose antics are allegedly making work extra stressful.

“She hates drama and confrontation. This is why she retired from the business in the first place,” the source continued. “She has already proven herself in the industry and has nothing left to prove to anyone.”

Jamie Foxx Called Cops, Launched an Investigation, and Sacked 4 People

According to The Sun, Jamie Foxx axed two directors, an executive producer, and his own driver after he lost his cool on-set.

“There have been some issues on set and Jamie has had a major meltdown over it all,” a source told the publication. “He demanded the problems be sorted immediately and sacked four of the production staff — as if that would magically improve the situation.”

The source added that Foxx’s antics are starting to wear on other cast and crew.

“Some people working on it are totally fed up with how this has played out and Jamie has become pretty unpopular,” they said.

Another source told The Sun that part of Foxx’s blow-up was over a staffer’s scam to steal a large sum of money from him. Foxx ended up calling in the cops and launching an investigation, temporarily halting filming.

“This film has been a bit of a nightmare,” said the source. “There have been a lot of delays, especially with the weather thanks to filming outdoors in London in winter, but the latest issue is a bit more sinister.”

There’s No Bad Blood Between Diaz and Foxx

The drama has been of course linked to a “derailing” of Cameron Diaz’s big Hollywood comeback. However, none of it is necessarily between Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx at all. An insider told Daily Mail that they didn’t think there was any bad blood between the two stars.

They said they’d be “incredibly surprised if it caused any tension between Jamie and Cameron…

When you are in a position of authority, sometimes you have to make decisions to let people go who do not share the same vision as you.”

The source added that Diaz is close with Foxx and her decision to re-retire wasn’t personal.

“Cameron is a businessperson and understands that this is necessary at times and, honestly, Jamie is the only reason that she is doing this film and they are still very close,” they said.

Jamie Asked Cameron to Come Out of Retirement…Via a 3-Way Call With Tom Brady

Filming for Netflix’s Back in Action began in December and is expected to wrap up in April. It stars Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx. Foxx isn’t listed on the set of executives behind the scenes, but he certainly has pull with the film. It was Foxx who wanted Diaz to star alongside him in the first place. He actually had a three-way call with Diaz and Tom Brady when he convinced her to do so.

When Diaz agreed to do the project, all parties involved were ecstatic. Jamie Foxx announced the plan on social media, calling her the GOAT. “Jamie Foxx, only you could get me back in action. I can’t frickin wait it’s gonna be a blast!” Diaz was heard saying on their phone call, which was shared online.

Diaz jumped right in and was reportedly “having a blast” at the beginning. She raved to Jimmy Fallon about the process. She told him that Foxx was “so great, he’s so easy, he’s so professional, he’s so talented.”

Diaz Might Retire Again, Focus on Family and Her Wine Brand Aveline

Diaz’s last big film was Annie in 2014, which also co-starred Foxx. Prior to that, the two had worked together on Any Given Sunday in 1999.

But it seems that the un-retirement plan was short-lived, and Cameron Diaz might disappear again after Back in Action wraps. The film is set to release in 2024.

Apart from wanting to get back to her family, Cameron Diaz also has another passion she wants to focus on: wine. She launched her wine brand Aveline in 2020 and it’s been a successful venture for her.

“Cameron has gotten extremely involved in Avaline and was pivotal in its creation,” an insider told Page Six. “Aveline has grown exponentially, and it is something that Cameron is very, very proud of.”
