The comedian will be returning to Studio 8H at the Rockefeller Center to promote his new series, says Entertainment Weekly. Streaming on Peacock May 4, Bupkis is a fictionalized retelling of Davidson’s life, starring himself. The show is produced by Lorne Michaels, who also produces SNL.
Pete Davidson left Saturday Night Live in 2022. He’d joined in 2014 at age 20, making him one of the youngest cast members. According to Us Weekly, the King of Staten Island actor released a heartfelt statement before making his last appearance.
“I owe Lorne Michaels and everyone at SNL my life,” he wrote. “I’m so grateful and I wouldn’t be here without them. I appreciate you guys always having my back and sticking up for me even when that wasn’t the popular opinion. Thank you for always believing in me and sticking by my side even when it seemed comical. Thank you for teaching me life values, how to grow up and for giving me memories that will last a lifetime.”
Pete Had Mixed Feelings About Leaving SNL
However, Davidson’s experience on the show wasn’t entirely positive. The comedian spoke up in the past about feeling underestimated by his coworkers.
“I have a weird feeling in that building where I don’t know whose team they’re playing for, really — If I’m the joke or I’m in on the joke,” he said in a 2020 interview. He added, “They think I’m f–king dumb. Like, I’m literally painted out to be like this big dumb idiot.”
The star’s career has come a long way since he first appeared on SNL, including films, stand-up performances, and voice-acting. He’s also become known for dating some pretty high-profile celebrities such as singer Ariana Grande and reality star Kim Kardashian.
