According to Variety, the film, which is based on the widely popular video game, is expected to have a remarkable five-day opening weekend, projected to earn $377 million. Of that, it’s expected that $173 million come from 70 international markets and $204 million from the domestic market.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie also set a new record for the largest-ever worldwide debut for an animated feature. The film’s opening weekend earnings have surpassed those of any other film this year, dethroning Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which made $225 million.

But, according to Variety, the record should be taken with a grain of salt. The previous record-holder, Disney’s Frozen II, garnered $358 million during a conventional three-day weekend, while Super Mario Bros. benefits from a five-day opening due to the Good Friday and Easter holidays.

The comedic animated film tells the story of Mario (voiced by Pratt) and Luigi (voiced by Charlie Day), two Brooklyn-based plumbers who get whisked away to the enchanting world of Mushroom Kingdom and end up getting separated. The film has quite a star-studded voice cast, including Keegan-Fred Armisen, Anya Taylor-Joy, Keegan Michael Key, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Sebastian Maniscalco. Charles Martinet, who has voiced Mario and Luigi in the Super Mario games for over a whopping 30 years, also makes a special voice appearance.
