The Making

Rise of the Pink Ladies is set to premiere in April of this year. The cast includes stars like Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Ari Notartomaso, and Tricia Fukuhara.

The series is rumored to combine both a ’70s and 50s theme, following the lives of the women who began the Pink Ladies four years before the first film takes place.

Annabel Oakes, Marty Bowen, and Erik Feig are leading the charge as executive producers. Alethea Jones is also on board for the project.

All About It

Paramount+ released the official trailer for the spinoff in early February. The colorful preview contained classic songs and new tunes that are all to be included in the series.

The storyline will follow the lives lived by the Pink Ladies in the original films. One of the producers, Nortartomaso, hinted at new storylines as well.

By providing fresh platforms for telling tales about non-white and non-straight characters, this film will offer unprecedented opportunities for exploration and catharsis. For instance, the protagonist Nancy may be dealing with the lingering trauma of being in an internment camp, as well as more immediate concerns such as adolescence.

Social media has shared its reactions to the trailer and the upcoming series. People have taken their excitement to TikTok.

“Wow!! I’m excited to finally see it!!” one user commented.

“I’m fully anticipating a month-long obsession over one of the singing men,” another shared.

New details have yet to be released pertaining to the rest of the storyline, but fans are eager and looking forward to what Paramount+ has planned for this exciting new series.
