Willie Nelson Recalls Smoking ‘A Lot of Marijuana’ with Snoop Dogg in Amsterdam

89-year-old Willie Nelson has been pretty open when it comes to the topic of weed. As he looks ahead as to what he has going on in the future regarding his career, he has expressed several gratitude for his journey thus far.

“I have been so fortunate this far, that I just hope for things to continue the way they are,” Nelson told PEOPLE. “I think it would be too much to ask for anything more than what I already have experienced.”

To kick off the new year, and to celebrate his almost 90th birthday, Nelson is being featured in BIC’s newest campaign for the company’s EZ Reach Lighter alongside Martha Stewart and her best friend, Snoop Dogg. It’s an experience that the singer is calling, “a lot of fun.”

“I love Snoop,” Nelson said, recalling how he met the rapper after collaborating on the song “My Medicine.” “He and I are great friends — have been forever. It was a lot of fun just hanging out and getting to do some things — Snoop and I.”

 In December of last year, Snoop had talked about his friendship with the country singer on SiriusXM’s Let’s Go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray. During the interview, Brady asked the rapper about the most stone that he has ever been. That’s when Snoop answered “With Wille fu**ing Nelson.”

He went on to recall the time he was in Amsterdam with the singer on none other than 4/20. “We were in Amsterdam on 4/20, and he was doing a concert out there,” Snoop revealed. “So, we went back to his hotel room, and we was playing dominoes.”

“Me and him were playing dominoes one-on-one,” he continued. “He whooping my ass, and I’m just getting higher and higher and higher. He just keep passing it to me, and I’m like, ‘This old motherf—er outsmoking me.'”

Nelson went on to say that he has a lot of memories from the trip, saying that he “smoked a lot of marijuana and had a lot of fun.”

“I called him, I said, ‘Come on over here and let’s have some fun,'” Nelson revealed. “So he did, and we hung out at all the hotspots over there, The Bulldog and Gray Area and all the good stuff.”

On Wednesday it was announced that the father of eight was one of the 14 people who were nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. The 10-time Grammy Award singer is also up for three awards at this year’s ceremony which will take place on February 5th. He is also set to release a new studio album, “I Don’t Know a Thing About Love,” on February 5th.
