As the pop culture meter has been moving with all things Johnny Depp versus Amber Heard it was only a matter of time before Joe Rogan weighed in.

The podcaster, actor, comedian had similar thoughts to what they rest of us where thinking: what was Amber Heard thinking? On The Joe Rogan Experience he chatted with fellow podcast host and computer scientist Lex Fridman about the whole circus. The debate turned into a discussion about if just the legal teams alone decided the outcome that Heard was in a heap of trouble.

“That’s probably all she could afford. Her fvcking lawyers are terrible,” Rogan said. “She probably found ’em on Craigslist. They don’t make any sense. Their questions are terrible. They’re so ill prepared.”

And he did not stop there, turning his attention to Heard herself.

“But also — what are they dealing with?” Rogan said, “Like what are they dealing with? They’re dealing with someone who’s a clear sociopath, a clear liar.”

Depp is suing Amber Heard for $50 million. He is alleging defamation of character and lost wages and opportunities due to a 2018 Washington Post op-ed that she wrote. Heard is countersuing Depp for $100 million.

There have been reports that Heard’s lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, left Virginia’s Fairfax County Circuit Court in tears after proceedings on Friday.

It may have just been the evidence that Rogan and Fridman needed to form their opinions.

“It seems like Johnny Depp’s lawyers are really good,” Fridman said. “I wonder if they cost a lot more, like, do you have to pay a lot more for that kind of quality?”

Rogan added — pretty sure it was a joke, but maybe not — that he hopes Depp and his lawyer spark a love interest at the conclusion of this trial.

“That Camille Vasquez, that lady’s a gangster. She’s amazing. I hope Johnny and her fall in love. That’s what I hope. I hope after this trial’s over, they go out to dinner and he thanks her, and then they fall in love and he gets sober.”
