Unlike most children, Sadie Robertson has led a life that has been more public than anything else.
Robertson is the daughter of Korie and Willie Robertson, and has appeared on the family show, “Duck Dynasty,” since she was in her early-teens.
While show business is peppered with tales of young children letting money and fame get the best of them, Robertson has written a story far greater – through dance.
Robertson first hit TV screens across the country in 2014, when she was a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars.” She ultimately placed second in the ABC dance competition.
Since the finale, Robertson has carved a niche for herself as a positive role model for young girls, specifically those who believe in Jesus Christ.
Now 18-years-old, Robertson has dabbled in several public arenas, including the launch of her own fashion line, making appearances in the acting world, and releasing a book, “Live Original: How the Duck Commander Teen Keeps it Real and Stays True to her Values.”
The book itself is part of a broader effort by Robertson to teach young women that it’s okay to, “live original.”
In 2015, Robertson sat down to say that there was too much pressure on young women to conform to the sexualized and pressure-cooked persona that society has laid out for them.
“Don’t look at somebody and say, ‘That’s what I want to be,’ because in reality, if you’re seeking self-approval or human approval, you’re never going to reach your goal. You can only reach it by God,” Robertson said.
Though she has received a degree of criticism for her message, Robertson takes it all in stride, noting that she is trying to teach people what has worked best in her life.
“People can hate on me, but that’s not the way they have to live. I’m just saying this is what has worked best for me in my life,” she said. “This is just who I am, that’s what I believe.”
