It’s true, as Walmart is joining several other large chains — such as Bed Bath & Beyond — that will close stores this year. Walmart, of course, just happens to be the biggest and most successful of those chains.
But retail stores are experiencing poor performances across the board, leading to five of the Walmart closings. The list consists of the store in Pinellas Park, Fla., one in Albuquerque, N.M., and one in Milwaukee, as well as two in Illinois — in Plainfield and Homewood.
Interestingly, the Walmart in Lincolnwood, Ill., is also closing after introducing a “pick-up only” concept. In other words, you will still be able to shop at that particular Walmart, but only online, then head over to pick up your items. You could not, however, go into the actual store. A similar experiment is ending in Arkansas.
This is nothing new, though. Walmart has been closing several stores it views as “underperforming” for the past few years, as relayed by Business Insider.

It’s sad that Walmart is shutting down stores. I was so sad when they closed this one n where I live. I love there pharmacy BUT when they closed the store here in Clinton, IL it made it hard for the seniors to get there meds from Walmart. Yes they have 2 pharmacies here but in my opinion they are as good as Walmart. For one thing tge meds are cheaper at Walmart!! You pay double n triple for your meds from t h e other 2 pharmamcies!! The service isn’t as good either!!
