Tom Cruise’s and Katie Holmes’ daughter has got an amazing set of pipes. In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Katie Holmes talks about her forthcoming movie, Alone Together. She explains why she chose her 16-yr-old daughter, Suri Cruise, to sing a jazzy classic, “Blue Moon.”

“I always want the highest level of talent, so I asked her,” explained Holmes. She’s very talented and she said she would do it. And she recorded it and I let her do her thing. That’s the way I direct in general. It’s like, ‘this is what I think we all want,’ and then… ‘go do your thing.’”
Suri apparently sang in another film, Rare Objects, last autumn. So, this isn’t her first rodeo, but she’s still a budding singer. And it’s pretty cool that the teenager is getting the opportunity to show off her vocal prowess at such a young age.

If you didn’t already pick up what we’re putting down, Katie Holmes is also quite talented. She stepped outside of her well-known career path as just an actress. She actually wrote and directed Alone Together and stars in it as well.
Alone Together is a love story about two strangers stuck in the same New York Airbnb during a COVID-19 lockdown. Co-starring alongside Holmes is Jim Sturgess, who plays the unlikely love interest of Holmes’ character, June.
“Blue Moon” is a 1934 classic originally written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart. It’s been sung by greats such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday. It was also once covered by Diane Keaton, who coincidentally met young Suri when she was just a baby. So, for Katie and her daughter, there’s some extra special meaning behind the song.
