It’s safe to say Matthew Perry wasn’t exactly, well, friends with Cameron Diaz for a hot minute. More like frenemies.

According to Perry’s new book, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, he was fixed up with Diaz in 2007 after she split with Justin Timberlake. So the former Friends star and Diaz attended a dinner party together. While he liked her, she “wasn’t interested” in him at all, he wrote.

But the comical drama came when they were playing a game of Pictionary at the party, and Perry said “something witty” and perhaps a bit flirtatious to Diaz, who went to slug his shoulder — but missed.

Instead, she accidentally punched him in the face.

“Are you f–king kidding me?” was his reply, according to the book, available Nov. 1.

Perry, 53, said he remembered that for their date, Diaz, 50, got “immediately stoned.” Perhaps that explains why she missed his shoulder when she threw the punch.

But Perry clearly recalled the moment fondly, seemingly mostly writing about it to express his interest in her at the time — and her lack of interest in him.

Perry, of course, is best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the wildly popular NBC sitcom Friends, which ran from 1994-2004 and also starred Jennifer AnistonCourteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer.

Perry has struggled with alcohol and drug addiction but has reportedly been sober for 18 months following a relapse.
