PEOPLE got exclusive details from a representative of the family. “I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the bishop in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor.”
Celebrations
The source also revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sent invitations to Queen Camilla, Kate Middleton, King Charles, and Prince William, but they did not attend.
When Archie and Lilibet’s grandfather, King Charles, assumed the throne after the death of Queen Elizabeth last September, they were given the titles of Prince and Princess. These rules were established by King George V in 1917. According to PEOPLE, the children’s titles are currently listed as “Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor” and “Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.”
The source states that, “The children’s titles have been a birthright since their grandfather became monarch. This matter has been settled for some time in alignment with Buckingham Palace.”
A guest list was obtained by PEOPLE. There were around 30 guests in attendance at the intimate ceremony. Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mother, and Tyler Perry, Princess Lilibet’s godfather, were among those in attendance. The godmother was present at the ceremony as well, her name has never been mentioned.
Family Ties
After the ceremony, guests were entertained with food, music, and dancing. A source tells people that Archie danced with his little sister.
Tyler Perry flew in for the celebration from his home in Atlanta. He was joined by a small gospel choir that sang “This Little Light of Mine” and “Oh Happy Day” at Meghan and Harry’s wedding.
Prince Harry sat down for an exclusive interview with PEOPLE where he shared his hopes for his children and their future connections with the royal family.
“I’ve said before that I’ve wanted a family, not an institution—so of course, I would love nothing more than for our children to have relationships with members of my family, and they do with some, which brings me great joy.”
