As the bestselling female country musician of all time, it’s safe to say that Shania Twain doesn’t need help from anyone at this point in her career.

But she reportedly drives the point home in a new interview with People, mincing no words about her ex-husband, Robert John “Mutt” Lange.
According to Fox News, Shania Twain plainly said about her ex: “I just don’t need him.”
Twain appears on the cover of the latest issue of People. On Tuesday, the publication posted parts of the cover story on its website — but not any of the comments she reportedly made about Lange.
Shania Twain, 57, is currently married to Frédéric Thiébaud, 52. They tied the knot in 2011, just a year after she and Lange divorced.
According to People.com, Twain told the magazine that, due at least in part to her second husband, she now has “a wonderful life.”
“It’s like a renaissance period for me. To be experiencing it as a relevant artist still, that’s rewarding,” Twain stated. “I feel a renewed confidence. I don’t have anything to prove anymore, and I feel freedom in that.”
Twain’s First Marriage Turned Into a Sordid Tale
In 1993, Twain met and married Lange, a South African record producer and songwriter. He later had an affair with Marie-Anne Thiebaud, Twain’s best friend and secretary.
Naturally, the couple separated and later divorced. But here’s where it gets interesting: After Lange and Thiebaud moved to Switzerland, Twain married Marie-Anne’s ex-husband, Frederic.
Twain married the Swiss Nestle executive on January 1, 2011, in Puerto Rico.
In mid-September, she guest-starred in the second episode of new country-music drama Monarch.
Last week, Shania Twain joined Martin Short, Josh Groban, Rita Moreno, David Alan Grier and others for the TV special Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration.
Her sixth studio album and first in as many years, Queen of Me, is due for release on Feb. 3.
