On Thursday, Depp made a cool $3.6 million by selling 780 prints of his artwork at a London gallery, The Sunday Times reports. The windfall came two months after he won more than $10 million in a defamation trial between himself and Heard.

The sales are especially impressive because Castle Fine Art called it the gallery’s “fastest-selling collection to date.” Johnny Depp’s collection, titled Friends & Heroes, was his first.

One of Johnny Depp’s limited-edition prints features friend Keith Richards, who famously helped inspire his Jack Sparrow character in The Pirates of the Caribbean. Other pieces capture Al Pacino, Elizabeth Taylor, and Bob Dylan.

“Each image is an intimate reflection of their character in Johnny’s eyes; a portrayal of how they have revealed themselves to him,” Castle Fine Art gallery’s website said. “Working from photographic references, each image has been stripped back to a simpler and iconic portrayal of the subject.”

“Johnny then developed and energised [those portrayals] with his characteristic freehand flourishes,” the statement continued.

Johnny Depp’s Artwork: Pop Art Meets Street Art

Castle Fine Art gallery likened Depp’s work to a marriage between pop art and street art.

“The result is a series of iconic images of media figures that have moved beyond the impersonal graphic simplicity of Pop Art. It’s Pop Art with feeling,” the Castle Fine Art gallery said.

Meanwhile, the website also contains some brief comments from Depp, who is also a musician, speaking about his work.

“I’ve always used art to express my feelings and to reflect on those who matter most to me,” he said. “My paintings surround my life, but I kept them to myself and limited myself. No one should ever limit themselves.”
