A Comeback

CNN This Morning had to fare without the spokesmen for three episodes while he took a digital tongue-lashing from spectators across the web.

Lemon made a comment last week about GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley, saying that she “isn’t in her prime” at the age of 51, simply because she’s a woman.

His co-host, Poppy Harlow, allegedly stormed off the set after hearing Lemon’s crude remarks.

In his return to the air, he launched into a story about President Biden. Harlow welcomed viewers to the show in her usual manner. She made no indication that her previous malice toward the newscaster was on her mind. “Good morning, everyone, Don and I are here in New York, we’re glad you’re with us.”

Falling On Deaf Ears

The boss of CNN, Chris Licht, made a statement to staff in a memo citing a “frank and meaningful” conversation that he had with Lemon before allowing him to return to the morning show.

“He has agreed to participate in formal training, as well as continuing to listen and learn. We take this situation very seriously,” Licht stated in the memo.

Viewers have not reacted well to Lemon’s return. The network is facing backlash for allowing him back on the air. Journalist Megyn Kelly is calling the decision “a farce and a lie.”

She called on Licht to provide an explanation. “Do women matter? Does our offense matter to CNN or does someone have to grab a boob for us to count? Because this guy managed to piss off half the country. It’s not left or right, it’s male and female — and by the way, a lot of the men are with us.”
