We are assuming that will serve as his final tweet. He did not say whether he’s “going back to my plough,” as he once sang on Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

He did say a “policy change” at Twitter will “allow misinformation to flourish unchecked” and “divide our world.” Other than that, the legendary singer wasn’t all that specific.

So new Twitter boss Elon Musk asked.

“Is there any misinformation in particular that you’re concerned about?” Musk asked, after telling John that he loved John’s music and “Hope you come back.”

Elton John Leaves Twitter

John has not publicly responded.

While celebrities are leaving — or at least claiming to be leaving — Twitter’s overall use is reportedly up since Musk took over. Musk also reinstated former president Donald Trump’s account after putting it up for a vote on Twitter. Popular opinion narrowly voted in favor of a Trump return.

Elton John has not put up anything for vote. He just decided to bail, sort of like a candle in the wind or a man on a rocket. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Twitter slowly starts to die this coming year. It seems like celebrities are all quitting due to Musik, and we don’t blame them. So yeah, there could be some sort of a downfall now that celebrities are making it public that they disagree with the acquisition.

Let’s be honest, we knew this was coming. It was only a matter of time until everything blew up in the air.
