NBC shared a sneak peek on Friday, which left Kelly Clarkson and Niall Horan in awe, along with the rest of the coaches who were surprised to learn of Ryley’s young age.

“I didn’t hear anything after 15!” Clarkson said shocked. “You’re 15 and sounding like that?”

Niall went on to praise Ryley for keeping his nerves under control, recalling his very own The X Factor audition at a similar age. “That was the best audition we’ve heard, by a long shot,” he gushed.

Chance the Rapper told Ryley that he was impressed by his vocal runs, going on and comparing him to more “experimental R&B” artists such as Steve Lacy. “I would love to see what you could do in that space,” he stated.

Blake Shelton went on to remind him that this was his last season, which he should take advantage of.

“You pick me as your coach, and I will quit coaching after this season,” he stated, which was welcomed with laughs. “I will walk away. I will be satisfied that I got the chance to work with you, Ryley.”

Prior to the premier of the show, Entertainment Tonight had an opportunity to interview the coaches who shared their enthusiasm for joining the show during the last hurrah of the country singer. “I texted him,” Kelly stated. “If he was gonna do a last season, I wanted to make sure I was there.”

But, the singer insisted that she wasn’t letting nostalgia affect her competitive self. “If [Blake] wins, I am very happy for him, because that is super cool to win on the last season and he’s literally the show, from its conception,” she noted. “But, like, I’m not, like, rooting for him to win. I’ll be happy for him if he does, but I’m obviously trying to win myself.”

As for the new coaches, Horan and Chance the Rapper, they were ready to fight against the legendary Team Blake. “It’s been awesome,” Chance said becoming a new coach. “Kelly’s very, very sweet, very nice to me. And Blake is… here.”

The Voice airs on NBC Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. PT/ET.
