Carr has spent the entirety of his career playing for the Las Vegas Raiders, though Carr played for the team when they were based in Oakland, California.

Carr was released by the Raiders on February 14th, just two days before the star was set to enter into a 2 year extension worth a guaranteed $40 million.

A four time Pro-Bowler, 31 year old Carr amassed over 35,000 yards and 217 touchdowns during his 9 year tenure with the Raiders.

He joins former Raiders Head Coach Dennis Allen in New Orleans, as the team looks to usher in a new era of the NFC South post-Tom Brady.

Carr told ESPN about Allen…

[Allen] and I have a great relationship still to this day,” Carr said in October before the two teams played. “And I still talk to him and things like that — obviously not this week and all those things — but we’ve always kept in contact, we’ve always been close.”

Jameis Winston is currently listed as the starter for the Saints, and is due a $12.3 million salary this year. It will be interesting to see what the Saints decide to do with Winston.

The Saints offense has not been the same since longtime quarterback Drew Brees retired following the 2020 NFL season. They were among the bottom half of offenses in 2022.

With no Tom Brady in the NFC South, it appears that the Saints will have the strongest team in the division this year. Carr is a veteran presence that will fit perfectly into their scheme.

These are not the Saints of old, and it will be extremely interesting to see how they fair this season.
