On The Stand
In recent events, Buster Murdaugh, Alex’s eldest, has been called to testify on his father’s behalf. The 26-year-old recounted the fond memories he has of his childhood.
He shared details about how his family would hunt all over the Colleton County property. This is the same family home where Alex’s wife Maggie and son Paul were found shot to death.
He told the court about the family’s guns. We had “12-gauge shotguns, 20-gauge shotguns, 16-gauge shotguns, and 28-gauge shotguns.” He also talked about the rifles that the family owned.
Buster shared that the family would also leave loaded weapons around. “Guns would not always find their way back to the gun room,” he testified.
He also discussed how his younger brother behaved around firearms. Apparently, Paul “left guns probably more on the property than anybody else.”
Buster was one the first people that Alex tried to call on the night of the murders. The eldest son was not on the property at the time. He shared that he talks to his parents almost every day.
So far, the prosecution has presented over 550 pieces of evidence against Alex Murdaugh. They’ve also presented 61 different witnesses.
According to the defense, they will finish presenting their evidence by Friday, February 21, 2023.
