Harley McCourt, 27, has since been reunited with his family after being found in Galveston, Texas, the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office said.

After police said they had stopped McCourt, his mother Kim McCourt and sister Brittany Crumpton immediately made a seven-hour drive from Arkansas to Texas. Their first stop was the area in which police say they’d spotted him.

Sure enough, Harely’s mother and sister spotted him walking along the beach.

“Yesterday I got to put my arms around my son,” Kim wrote in a heartfelt message on a Facebook page devoted to finding him. “Harley is back with his family and my heart is full again.”

It’s unclear why Harley disappeared in the first place, though police said he had been “severely depressed and distant” for the three months before he went missing. He had left his wallet and cell phone at home — so he had neither for the 18 months he was gone.

Along with that, police said Harley was “”very paranoid about COVID-19” and did not want people touching him.

Texas authorities were able to contact Harley’s family via information on a backpack he was carrying at the time he was stopped. At the time, they didn’t realize he had been reported missing.

“A lot of his personality traits and stuff are coming out already and he’s started to get back to being happy,” Crumpton told WXIN, via People.
