A Texan mother was arrested in Mobile, Ala., after leaving her two children unattended for more than two months. Raven Yates was taken into custody by the Roman Forest Police Department after officers found her at an apartment complex with a male friend.

Yates is accused of abandoning her 12-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son on September 8. The children’s father reported the incident to the RFPD on November 14, alleging that the kids had been left without food or medical supplies and had not been enrolled in school during that period.

“The father immediately flew in from California where he had been working at the time,” RFPD stated, saying that he “had been informed that his child’s mother had been seen in Mobile, Alabama without her children and realized they were home alone because he had been asked by his daughter to send food regularly.”
RFPD did note that both children are “safe with a family member in Alabama.”
After an investigation, the RFPD obtained an arrest warrant for Yates on December 8. She was charged with two counts of abandoning and endangering a child with no intention of returning. With assistance from the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force, the RFPD located the mother, who was actively posting about the situation on social media, leading to tips and leads. Yates’ Facebook profile indicated indicates that she is an “International Mommy CEO | Recording Artist | Model | Actress.”
Her most recent Instagram post is a short video of herself which was posted the day she was arrested. “How deep is your ❤️ 💋I love you 😍 much,” she in her caption.
As of Saturday, she was still listed on the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office inmate roster and is currently awaiting extradition back to Montgomery County, Texas.
