7-Eleven Cashier Fights With Shoplifting Bear: ‘I’ll Kick Your Ass or You’ll Kill Me’

Online video shows a cashier in Olympic Valley, California, trying to fend off a black bear coming into a 7-Eleven.

“I’ll kick your ass or you’ll kill me.” When said among friends, such a careless comment might earn a chuckle or two. When said in the context of a 7-Eleven cashier confronting a bear, it’s probably met with more concern about safety than laughs about stupidity.

The New York Post on Wednesday posted online a video in which a cashier in Olympic Valley, California, tries to fend off a black bear coming into the store. The bear repeatedly attempted to steal chocolate bars from the 7-Eleven, according to the report.

“Initially, I was surprised. I see the door open, and I don’t see a torso, and I am like, ‘Oh my god. It’s a bear,’ ” Christopher Kinson reportedly said. “The videos really don’t do it justice. The bear was about 20 to 30 percent bigger in real life.”

The bear apparently succeeded in its efforts to snag sweets from the store.

“All right, you had enough to eat. Let’s go!” the 7-Eleven cashier said, before breaking into laughter.

Kinson told a news reporter that it wasn’t the first time he was in that type of situation at 7-Eleven.

“I always kept my distance, and I had the back door near me, so I could escape if it charged me,” Kinson said. “I was scared initially, but they just want to eat. You always have to be careful though. We don’t know how exactly they are thinking.”

Earlier this week, we told you about a bear that snuck into a kitchen in California to snag a freshly baked chocolate cake.

“It looked like somebody in a bear costume,” an unidentified Simi Valley female homeowner told KCRA-TV. “I see my kitchen is kind of destroyed. A chocolate cake I made for a barbecue that day was dumped over.”
