On the show Chris Cuomo’s NewsNation, it was stated that police confiscated an ID from Kohberger’s home. It is not sure who the ID belonged to, but it is assumed that it was the property of one of the victims. Earlier this year, other IDs were found by police in Kohberger’s car.

Bryan Kohberger’s Heinous Murders

Retired FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer spoke to Chris Cuomo on his show, saying, “It’s a big deal. That is a smoking license.” She then added “Just like the sheath was a smoking sheath found next to Maddie with his DNA on that clasp, it’s the same thing in this situation. Why would he have an ID related to one of those people from that house?”

On November 13, 2022, University of Idaho students Xana Kernodle, Ethan Chapin, Madison Mogen, and Kaylee Goncalves were stabbed to death in their off-campus home. Kohberger was arrested for the murders six weeks after they were committed. Kohberger was a PhD student at Washington State University but was originally from Pennsylvania.

It is surmised that Kohberger kept the ID as a way to trace his victims, but it’s unclear if the ID was stolen from the victim before or after the murders. It is also suspected that Kohberger may have tried to contact one of the victims before they were murdered in their own home.

Coffindaffer also spoke about what is being surmised regarding the ID, saying, “If that’s true, why do people stalk? They stalk because they’re feeling persecuted, and this is a way that they can exact their revenge.” Earlier this year, former FBI investigator Pete Yachmetz spoke about Kobberger, saying, “I believe a continued stabbing of a victim indicates … an uncontrollable rage and extreme anger.”
