Kathie Lee Gifford Pays Moving Tribute to Late Regis Philbin

Kathie Lee Gifford decided to pay a very heartfelt tribute to her former co-host Regis Philbin. The tribute comes on what would have been his 91st birthday. The former Today Show host posted several throwback pictures standing alongside the late Phailin. The photos were taken during their time on “The Morning Show, ” which went on to become “Live with Regis and Kathie Lee ” in 1988.

“I miss Regis every day,” the 69-year-old stated. “But this is a particularly difficult day as we remember this amazing man who would have been 91.” Philbin passed away at the age of 88 from a fatal heart attack due to coronary artery disease. Following his death in 2020, Gifford also paid tribute to her “ precious friend” who she hosted the talk show with for a total of 12 Years.

“We spent 15 years together bantering and bickering and laughing ourselves silly — a tradition and a friendship we shared up to this very day,” she stated. “I smile knowing somewhere in Heaven, at this very moment, he’s making someone laugh.” Gifford also sent love to the late show host’s wife, Joy, to celebrate his 91st birthday. “Sending love to [his wife] Joy and the rest of their family as they celebrate an extraordinary man and life,” Gifford said.

Gifford is also known for her time on NBC’s Today Show with Hoda Kotbh. She co-hosted the show for 11 years. She has received 11 Daytime Emmy nominations and went on to win her first Daytime Emmy in 2010. Not only is she a host, but he’s also a singer, songwriter, actress, and author, releasing several albums and books. 

Philbin was also a singer and actor, as well as a talk show host and game show host. At one point, he was called the “hardest working man in show business.” He even held a Guinness World Record for most hours spent on US television.
