It’s been a minute since Celine Dion wove some new tunes or popped up in a movie. But that’s all about to change.

The preeminent singer recently wrote on her Facebook profile that she will appear on the big screen in a new romcom due next year. The untouchable Canadian chanteuse also noted that she’s crafting music to accompany the film.
“See you at the movies!” she wrote. Continuing in the third person, she added: “Celine is starring alongside Priyanka Chopra and Sam Heughan and releasing new music for the romantic comedy LOVE AGAIN (new title!) coming to movie theaters MAY 12 (new date!). – Team Celine.”
The film is an English-language remake of a 2016 German movie called SMS für Dich. Both flicks are based on a novel written by Sofie Cramer.
A synopsis of the upcoming remake, which James C. Strouse wrote and directed, outlined the plot and also detailed Dion’s role in the film.
“Mira Ray, dealing with the loss of her fiancé, sends a series of romantic texts to his old cell phone number…not realizing the number [got] reassigned to Rob Burns’ new work phone,” the synopsis read. “A journalist, Rob is captivated by the honesty in the beautifully confessional texts. When he’s assigned to write a profile of megastar Celine Dion (playing herself in her first film role), he enlists her help in figuring out how to meet Mira in person…and win her heart.”
Celine Is Back Again
Love Again actually won’t mark the first time Celine Dion married her mutual loves of music and film.
A few years back, Céline Dion was real-life Belle at her concert at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. At the concert, Dion performed the song “How Does a Moment Last Forever” from the new Walt Disney movie Beauty and the Beast for the first time. The song played during the end credits of the film.
The “My Heart Will Go On” singer paid homage to Belle during the performance. She did so by wearing a gorgeous yellow ball gown as the heroine wears in the film. As she sang, the ballroom dance scene played on the screens behind her.
