One knuckleheaded fan found that out the hard way when the man held up a sign about the wife of UFC fighter Dustin Poirier. The sign was actually a tribute to something uttered by Conor McGregor before a fight against Poirier ahead of their UFC 264 fight in 2021.
But this incident didn’t take place in a ring. Instead, it was a Mardi Gras parade in Youngsville, La.
Dustin Poirier Slaps Heckler
Poirier, 34, and his wife, Jolie, were in the parade when he spotted a man who held a sign that read, “Hey Dustin, your wife’s in my DM’s.” The sign-holder was unwise enough to approach the vehicle in which Poirier and his wife were riding.
Poirier motioned that man to get closer to the vehicle, and when the man did, he stuck out his arm, seemingly in an effort to get a high-five. Poirier slapped him instead.
That man then flipped him off — prompting Poirier to try to jump out of the vehicle and give chase. Fortunately for the guy with the sign, Poirier’s wife held him back.
Several other pro fighters praised Poirier for his actions toward the fan.
“People are getting way too comfortable being disrespectful,” tweeted fighter Adrian Yanez. “Good s— slapping him @DustinPoirier.”
Poirier carries a record of 21-
Poirier carries a 21-6 record after defeating Michael Chandler at UFC 281 at Madison Square Garden in November. He is 1-0 against silly fans.
