A 64-year-old Alabama grandfather who reportedly believed that his 12-year-old granddaughter was being physically abused by his 41-year-old son responded by shooting him dead with a .25 caliber pistol.

He now faces a murder charge.

According to AL.com, Hubbard Hall shot and killed his own son Mark Hall after an apparent family confrontation during a car ride home spilled over into his home.
While Mark Hall, Hall’s mother and his 12-year-old daughter made their way back from a softball game, the father got a phone call about his daughter that caused him to strike or “pop” her repeatedly, Baldwin County police said.

This continued until they arrived at Hubbard Hall’s house, which is located right in front of their own.
Then things escalated to a fatal level.
When Mark Hall is said to have announced intentions of taking his daughter to his house, his father responded with a flat no.
WEAR reported that Hubbard Hall would not allow his son to take his daughter with him.
An argument followed and ended with Hubbard Hall shooting his son to death. Mark Hall was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

Hubbard has since been arrested for murder and is being held at the Baldwin County Corrections Center on $50,000 bond.
