In Flordia, 36-year-old Peaches Stergo has admitted to conning an 87-year-old Holocaust survivor out of his life savings. After meeting the man on a dating app in 2017, Sturgo reportedly conned him into giving her $2.8 million.

The man lost his apartment due to signing off on 62 checks which Stergo pocketed. She initially claimed that she needed money in order to pay a lawyer for an injury settlement. As it turns out, Sturgo never received any money for an injury settlement, and there is no evidence of a lawsuit ever occurring.

While the victim gave away everything he had, Sturgo lived a lavish lifestyle for over four years with the man’s savings. Stergo lived in a gated community, drove a Corvette, and spent her days purchasing luxury items while her victim suffered. Stergo told the man that if he didn’t continue to put money in her account, then her account would be frozen and he would never see the money he gave her again. Sadly, that was the case either way.

In an official statement, US Attorney Damian Williams said, “Peaches Stergo stole the life savings from an 87-year-old Holocaust survivor who was just looking for companionship.  This conduct is sick – and sad.  Using the millions in fraud proceeds, Stergo lived a life of luxury, purchasing a home in a gated community and a Corvette, taking vacations at hotels like the Ritz Carlton, and buying thousands in designer clothing, while at the same time causing her elderly victim to lose his apartment.  Thanks to the hard work of the FBI and this Office, Stergo is being held accountable for her fraud.”

Stergo is currently being charged with wire fraud and is scheduled to be sentenced on July 27. She is facing up to 20 years in prison. Stergo is also being ordered to pay back the $2.8 million that she stole in restitution.
