Lucas chatted with Entertainment Tonight on the PaleyFest LA red carpet on Saturday about the future of the drama series and the upcoming projects related to it.

New Projects
Paramount has confirmed an untitled Yellowstone spinoff starring Matthew McConaughey. Few details have been revealed about the new project, but Lucas wasn’t shy about sharing his anticipations for the trajectory and success of the series.
Since the first season, Lucas has been playing a younger version of John Dutton, Kevin Costner’s character. Just like everybody else, Lucas said he doesn’t know the details about the show, but he believes that Yellowstone’s writer and co-creator, Taylor Sheridan “has great ideas for how these characters merge together.”
“Part of it is the mystery of the mind of that creator and waiting for that to be unleashed in a way, right?”
“So h–l, yeah,” he added, “Bring it on!”

Lucas also talked about his admiration for Sheridan’s storytelling. “I’m always so fascinated to see what Taylor is doing as he tells the story.”
“The thing that moves me or surprises me most is that every time I think something is too crazy or too fantastical, it turns out it’s based on a true story from Taylor’s life or from something that is very close to the cowboys that all of this story is about.”
There are rumors that the new franchise extension could be the long-teased ‘6666’, which was first announced in early 2021. It is said to revolve around life on a real Texas-based ranch that belongs to Sheridan.
Lucas made a statement following Chris McCarthy, the President of Paramount Media Networks, telling The Hollywood Reporter that the supposed McConaughey-led spinoff of the popular series is still going ahead, regardless of whether Costner rejoins the original show.
