Alligators have been around for millions of years, they were wandering the earth when there were dinosaurs hanging out. There’s a pretty good chance that at some point, an alligator and a Tyrannosaurus rex bumped into each other in the past.

But when 35-year-old Jason McDonald dressed as the ultimate apex predator and tried to befriend the fearsome gator. However, the testy reptile was hungry and was happy to snatch a fish away from his long-extinct companion. McDonald (who is from Colorado–an area where alligators aren’t common) admitted that he couldn’t see very well in the costume.

Thankfully the animal didn’t manage to get hold of his tiny T. rex arms.
