Four and a half months after the nightmarish snowplow accident that nearly took his life, Jeremy Renner has finally returned to the red carpet. By his side was his 10-year-old daughter Ava, who officially made her first-ever red carpet debut while also showing her face for the first time.

Jeremy Renner Was Accompanied by Daughter Ava, Large Extended Family

Renner and Ava wore matching dark blue outfits as the actor used a cane to help him walk. The outing came just days after an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, in which Renner walked on stage and did a very cautious dance with his cane. He’d previously been spotted out and about with his daughter while utilizing various electric scooters.

Renner, Ava, and their larger extended family appeared together around 6 pm at the Westwood Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles. Also in attendance was Disney CEO Bog Iger, who was seen chatting with Renner. After the premiere, Renner took part in a Q&A hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. The actor used an electric scooter to get to his chair at the Q&A portion of the event and was met by a standing ovation from the crowd.

He Had a Goal to Make It to the Rennervations Premiere

“I was really adamant about them not pushing this thing while there was momentum with the brass at Disney, with us, with the timing of it in all of our lives. It just felt right,” Renner told Variety. “I look a little beat up right now, but I promise you this show is what’s propelling me to get better and makes me want to get better every day. I set out a goal to be walking this carpet. And here I am enjoying it.”

Rennervations Is About Fixing Up Large Vehicles for Charity

The 4-part Rennervations reality show features Jeremy Renner as he helps renovate large vehicles and repurpose them for charity. The actor is a collector of large vehicles and has a long history of donating his time to charity. He even has a history of using his snowplow, a 14,000+ pound PistenBully, to help his neighbors by his Reno area home help remove snow from their properties.

Tragically, it was the PistenBully that almost took Renner’s life on the morning of January 1st. He and his 27-year-old nephew Alex were removing snow from the family property when the massive machine started sliding on the ice. In an attempt to save his nephew, Renner forgot to pull the emergency brake. The snowplow ran him over, crushing “35 or so” bones, puncturing his liver, a lung, and causing one of his eyes to come out of their sockets. Miraculously, the actor is back on his feet, thanks to a large support system of friends and family, and extensive physical therapy.

The Actor Says Rennervations Is “His Life”

“I’m overflowing with gratitude and excitement unlike [anything] I’ve felt in a very, very long time, you know?” Renner told People at the premiere. “Because it’s not a movie that I’m promoting, It’s not a show, it’s my, it’s my life, man, this is what I do.”

He added that the refurbished vehicles came from his own personal collection.

“My breath is taken away by how honored I am that we’re even here even talking about it, you know what I mean? We had people calling me crazy a good five years ago, like, ‘What are you gonna do with all these trucks?’ Like, ‘Trust me, I’ve got a good idea,'” he said.

Jeremy Renner’s Recent Appearances Have Been Huge Milestones

While Renner has partaken in a couple of interviews, notably with Jimmy Kimmel as well as with Diane Sawyer, this event was a milestone especially due to how much time it required out in public.

He told People that the premiere marks his “first time to kind of get out of my bed and out of rehab and, you know, to be on my feet and be out in the world. It’s intense, you know, for me, it’s a lot, but it’s a step in the direction I want to be going, right? And this is exactly what I want to be doing and exactly where I want my life to be right now.”

At the Rennervations Q&A, Renner said his mother had plans for the Snowcat, which had recently been returned to him.

“My mom wants to light it on fire and have a big old party,” he said. “The thing’s amazing, I love the thing… I just have to learn to drive it better.”

Renner also expressed gratitude to everyone who has supported him in his healing journey.

“It takes a lot of people. It starts with my family and my daughter. Then a big part of my recovery was this show,” said Renner. “It set a big milestone for me to get better, to make sure all of this hard work was not all for nothing. I mean, running my damn self over, right? I had a lot of love, man.”
