Jim Carrey Never Wants to Get Married Again

Here are some of the reasons why he’s lost interest in the institution.

Since his early days on In Living Color, Jim Carrey was regarded as one of the best slapstick comedians ever. With seemingly impossible flexibility and bones made of rubber, the comedic actor can contort himself unlike just about any other.

With that said, one position he refuses to take ever again is husband. He married and divorced twice — and, as Us Magazine notes, vowed years back to never enter the institution again.

Here are some of the reasons why it makes sense Jim Carrey is turned off by going to the chapel.

Jim Carrey’s Marriages

Ever since he dated Linda Ronstadt for eight months in 1983, Carrey led a high-profile romantic life that was almost as prolific as his filmography.

But before he went whole hog with his dating career, he married one of his lesser-known partners: a Comedy Store waitress, Melissa Womer. They tied the knot in March 1987 and divorced in 1995.

Carrey and Womer had one child together: Jane Carrey. A spitting image of her father, she is his sole progeny. (She also competed on American Idol in 2012.)

Before Carrey and Melissa Womer finalized their divorce, Carrey started a relationship with actress Lauren Holly. The two married the following year but divorced within a few months.

Jim’s Carrey’s Other Romantic Pursuits

From there, Carrey went on to date co-stars like Renee Zellweger — they even got engaged — as well as other celebrities like Jenny McCarthy and January Jones.

While they never married, Carrey and McCarthy drew loads of attention as a Hollywood power couple. They remained a couple from 2005 to 2010, with Carrey later saying they preserved their friendship.

Carrey’s darkest romantic relationship was with Cathriona White, who he dated from 2012 to 2015. She died of a drug overdose, and Carrey acted as a pallbearer at her funeral in Ireland, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

White’s family members launched wrongful-death lawsuits against Carrey. They accused him of not disclosing his sexual transmitted diseases to White and having unprotected sex with her.

The family members claimed the diseases — including hepatitis A, herpes, and chlamydia — contributed to White’s downward spiral. The lawsuits were dismissed.

What Jim Carrey Is Up to Now

Jim Carrey’s current activities put to rest any doubts about his eccentricity. Shortly after he and McCarthy divorced, he took up painting. Years later, he bizarrely drew loads of attention for drawing a series of pictures that slammed then-President Donald Trump.

Some of Carrey’s other endeavors are far more controversial. He and McCarthy led a march in Washington, D.C., railing against vaccines. It’s not especially strange that Carrey practices Transcendental Meditation — many celebrities do.

But Carrey’s belief that he obtained $10 million by imagining it as part of a visualization exercise is a bit … well, we’ll let you fill in the pejorative term.

Something Carrey won’t be up to again is marriage.

“I just don’t see it as necessary, at this point,” he told Howard Stern in 2014, according to ABC News. “I can’t say that I know how I would feel if I meet somebody that knocks my head off. I mean, I can’t make hard, fast rules about the future. But I wouldn’t voluntarily go that way.”

Nevertheless, Carrey still wants a life partner.

“I love women,” he told Stern. “Love them, adore them.”
