The protest occurred on Saturday after the Supreme Court ruling which overturned Roe vs. Wade. Protestors were peacefully advocating for pro-choice and abortion rights when the LAPD started to block their path.

Sweetin was talking into a megaphone when she was assaulted and thrown by the LAPD.

A post on Sweetin’s Instagram has been partly censored to due Instagram’s opinion that the video may be upsetting to some users. Indeed, it is. People are upset at the LAPD.

“This is hard to watch, @jodiesweetin is a great friend of ours and has been advocating a long time for progressives. Thank you @bellikemike for capturing this on video. #nojusticenopeace

Jodie Sweetin Says She’s Okay

Sweetin’s spokesperson issued a statement that she was okay after the incident.

“I’m extremely proud of the hundreds of people who showed up yesterday to exercise their First Amendment rights and take immediate action to peacefully protest the giant injustices that have been delivered from our Supreme Court,” Sweetin told several news outlets. “Our activism will continue until our voices are heard and action is taken. This will not deter us, we will continue fighting for our rights. We are not free until ALL of us are free.”

People reached out to the LAPD for comment and received the following response:

“The LAPD is aware of a video clip of a woman being pushed to the ground by officers not allowing the group to enter on foot and overtake the 101 freeway. The force used will be evaluated against the LAPD’s policy and procedure.

“As the nation continues to wrestle with the latest Supreme Court decision, the Los Angeles Police Department will continue to facilitate 1st Amendment rights, while protecting life and property.”
