Carson Wentz’s Early Football Career Sent Him Straight to the NFL

Carson Wentz was born on December 30, 1992, in Raleigh, North Carolina. At the young age of 3, his family relocated to North Dakota. He started playing competitive football at Century High School in Bismarck. He played defense and was a quarterback. While in high school, Wentz reportedly grew from 5’8” as a freshman to his current height of 6’5”. He wasn’t just a jock, though —he graduated as valedictorian.

Wentz enrolled at North Dakota State and played quarterback for the Bison team. While there, he helped lead his team to two NCAA FCS National Championships. He was redshirted initially so he could play as a 5th-year senior. Wentz maintained impressive grades and a 4.0 GPA. He earned his degree in health and physical education in 2016 and was promptly drafted into the NFL. By the time of his graduation, he was twice-recognized as an Academic All-American, was named the NCAA Division I-AA Championship Game Most Outstanding Player two years in a row and was the FCS’s highest-drafted player.

From the NFL to Charity Work

Carson was picked up by the Philadelphia Eagles and he played with them from 2016 through the 2020 season. As is common in the contact-heavy sport, Wentz unfortunately dealt with a series of painful injuries during his time with the Eagles, including a concussion, a rib injury, and an ACL injury that required surgery. While the Eagles won their first-ever Super Bowl in history in 2017 (against the New England Patriots), he unfortunately couldn’t participate due to a recent knee surgery.

If anything, the injuries in Wentz’s case are a testament to how hard he plays. In his final season with the Eagles, he only played a dozen games but still held the league records for interceptions throw, sacks taken, and turnovers. He was traded to the Indianapolis Colts the following year. In 2022, he was traded once again to the Washington Commanders. However, the season didn’t end on the most positive note this year as Wentz was criticized as being partly responsible for the team missing the playoffs.

Madison Wentz Is a Devout Christian and Advocate for the Poor

Madison Wentz was born as Madison Oberg on June 27, 1997, in Lexington, Kentucky. She is the youngest of three sisters. Madison attended Christian Ozark University before transferring to Missouri Southern State University to study education. Her Christian roots, passion for education, and big heart eventually led her all the way out to Haiti, where she was destined to meet the man of her dreams.

While volunteering for the Mission of Hope in Haiti, Madison and Carson crossed paths. He was there with his charity, and one of the mission’s donors, The Carson Wentz A01 Foundation. The Mission of Hope seeks to create and nurture programs that offer education, health and medicine programs, housing, church advancement, technical training, and even sports opportunities to the people of Haiti. The mission encourages volunteers to travel out to Haiti so they can help and observe the community transformations directly.

Meanwhile, Carson’s A01 Foundation seeks to “[uplift] individuals and communities around the world by demonstrating god’s love for his people.” Specifically, the organization donates towards causes that bring food and medical care to children in need, while in service to Christianity. They’re also helping to build the Haiti Sports Complex, an 18,750 square-foot multi-use facility featuring a full-sized soccer field where children can learn sports.

Madison’s current professional (and family) endeavors are kept private for the most part. Her Instagram page is private, and we only usually hear from or see her through the A01 Foundation and her husband. However, she’s been known to continue to work with the Mission of Hope and A01. Clearly, her passion is rooted in bettering the world from the religious value system she holds dear.

Carson Proposed to Madison Shortly After Meeting in Haiti

Shortly after Carson Wentz and Madison Oberg met in Haiti, they began dating. Madison was spotted in one of Carson’s Instagram posts from December 2017, after he’d received ACL surgery. It was shortly before the Eagles won the Super Bowl. Less than two months later, Carson posted a carousel of photos while announcing she’d said yes to marrying him.

“She said YES! And now Maddie and I both got us a ring,” Wentz wrote, referring to his Super Bowl ring. “Can’t wait to marry my best friend! God is doing some amazing things and I can’t thank him enough!”

Madison officially became Mrs. Wentz in July 2018. Carson posted photos from their wedding, including one showing the newlyweds dancing down a cobblestone path in their wedding attire. Friends and family were cheering them on and holding giant sparklers. Another carousel showed them pulling some impressive “Thriller” dance moves. On their honeymoon in Greece, the couple got matching tattoos.

Daughter Hadley Jayne Was Born in April 2020

After proving themselves to be dedicated dog co-parents to three for a while, Carson and Madison Wentz announced they were expecting their first child in November of 2019. Carson posted series of pictures featuring their Golden Retriever next to a sign that said, “I’m not the only mom in the house!”

“So much to be thankful for, but this might take the cake!” wrote Carson. “What a blessing this child already is and will continue to be to my wife and I. Family is always the most important and we are so thankful for the family of 6 the Lord has blessed us with! Happy Thanksgiving everybody.” Hadley Jayne was born on April 27, 2020.

2nd Daughter Hudson Rose Was Born in November 2021

In July of 2021, Carson posted another series of photos showing him, Madison, and little Hadley. Madison had a healthy baby bump, and they were holding pink smoke bombs. Their second daughter, Hudson Rose, was born on November 16, 2021.

“Welcome to the World my sweet Hudson Rose! What an incredible blessing you already are to our family. Your Mama was an absolute champ. Can’t wait for you and your big sis to run the World — or at least my World,” wrote the proud papa of two.

As their daughters are growing up, Madison and Carson have certainly been filling their days with fun. In a 2022 look-back, Carson posted memories of their beautiful family vacations. They were at Sea World, Disney, out in the snow, and of course, out on the field.
