At only 27-years-old, Mahomes is reaching unprecedented heights. With his Super Bowl win, he became the youngest quarterback in NFL history to win two MVP awards and two Super Bowl championships within the first six years of his career. He also creates history as the first Black quarterback to have multiple Super Bowl victories under his belt. Despite being so young, Mahomes is already considered one of the greatest players in the game.

Patrick Mahomes Speaks After Win

Despite the achievement, he stays humble, crediting the team and the coach for their performance. “I mean, I told y’all before this season, we got coach Andy Reid, we got guys like Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, Frank Clark,” Mahomes stated.

“We’re gonna be the Kansas City Chiefs! At the end of the day, we’re gonna be the Kansas City Chiefs, and we’re gonna celebrate this right here, baby! We’re gonna celebrate this the right way!”

At the height of Mahomes’ injury concerns, it appeared that his remarkable season was coming to an end. During a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he suffered a high-ankle sprain that caused him to seek medical attention and miss playing time. Despite helping lead the Chiefs to victory, the injury appeared to be a major concern. However, despite hobbling around during the AFC Championship game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Mahomes’ talent secured the Chiefs’ spot in the Super Bowl.

A Day to Celebrate!

Just as things were looking up for him, Mahomes seemed to once again suffer an ankle injury during the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles, causing him to limp to the locker room at halftime. With the Chiefs trailing and Mahomes’ injury once again a concern, it seemed that their chances of winning were low But with 30 minutes left in the 2022 season, Mahomes rose to the occasion and proved why he is regarded as one of the greatest players in the game.

“We just challenged each other, man, to leave everything out there, and I don’t wanna say we played tight in the first half, but you didn’t see that same joy that we play with,” Mahomes said after the game.

“And I wanted guys to just know that everything we worked for is for this moment. You have to enjoy this moment. You can’t let the moment overtake you. And I thought the guys did that in the second half and they fought to the very end. That’s all you can ask. These guys leave everything they have on the football field.”
