Kelsea Ballerini is divorcing her husband mere weeks before the release of her aptly titled fourth album, Subject to Change.

The country-music singer, who is married to Morgan Evans — who is also a country-music singer — made the announcement on Monday via Instagram Stories.
“Friends, I’ve always tried my best to share my life with you in a real and vulnerable way, while also protecting layers of my personal life as they unfold. This is now public record so I wanted you to hear from me directly that I am going through a divorce,” she wrote.
Kelsea Ballerini’s deeply personal message continued: “This deeply difficult decision is the result of a journey of love, growth, and effort that ultimately has come to an end.
“It’s hard to find the words here … but I feel extremely grateful for the years of marriage to Morgan and hopefully for the next seasons,” she said.
Kelsea Ballerini ended the statement by saying, “With very active schedules coming up, please be mindful that we are both fragile, actively healing, and showing up the best we can. Kels.”
Just like Kelsea Ballerini, Morgan Evans also used Instagram Stories to address the news of their split. He wrote a much shorter message, however.
“I am very sad to confirm that after almost 5 years of marriage, Kelsea and I are parting ways. I wish it were otherwise but sadly it is not.”
Kelsea Ballerini’s Fast Track To Country Stardom
Kelsea Ballerini skyrocketed into country-music stardom thanks to her debut album, 2015’s The First Time. Per Billboard, she was the first new female artist whose first three singles hit #1 on a Billboard country chart.
Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans, who hails from Australia, became engaged before the release of her debut. Evans factored into some of her songs, but he didn’t claim cowriting credits. They supposedly liked to keep that part of their life separate.
