They say that everything we do in the dark must come to light; that all of our whispers and belly-crawls across the greater social climate will soon be revealed. This includes hush money.

It’s common knowledge that back in 2016, former president Donald Trump’s camp was accused of paying quite the sum to adult actress Stormy Daniels in an attempt to cover up their alleged tryst in 2006. The two have vied back and forth in the limelight in salacious attempts to slander one another and slash all semblance of credibility. Truth is trivial and talk is cheap in this all-out legal brawl between the infamous commander-in-chief and the x-rated provocateur.

Manhattan Indictment

The Manhattan District Attorney’s office has convened a grand jury to determine if former President Donald Trump committed fraud in connection with the hush money payment made to Stormy Daniels. The potential charges are related to whether or not Trump’s business records were doctored to cover up the payment.

Hurricane Stormy?

Daniels’ involvement in the indictment has yet to be fully divulged, but she has made her own attempts to collect an even bigger payout than what she received before the 2016 election.

In February 2021, the U.S. Supreme Court sent poor Stormy packing when they declined to hear her defamation case against Trump. Daniels sought damages and an apology from Trump for claiming that her recount of their affair was based on false information. He also alleged that the threats she claimed to receive in connection with the hush money were falsehoods as well.

Prosecutors are looking into whether the Trump Organization and its executives misrepresented the reimbursement of the payment as an undisclosed business expense, which would be a violation of New York’s business fraud laws. The grand jury has been presented with evidence from witnesses and documents, as well as possible testimony from Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer who served a prison sentence for his involvement in various financial and purgery crimes.

The battle rages on and payments peaking into the hundred-thousands continue to fly back and forth. This misfortune of epic proportions may be the closest that our former president gets to Capitol Hill ever again.
