Drunken Man Gets Glass Stuck Inside His Butt For Three Days

In a bizarre turn of events, a Nepalese man was unable to defecate for three days before seeking medical attention and revealing the real reason for his constipation to medical professionals. The unnamed man confessed to doctors that he shoved a 12 cm-long glass cup into his rectum, but initially denied that the insertion was purposeful.

Soon, the whole truth came out. The man revealed that he drunkenly inserted the glass inside of himself for “self-gratification purposes.” The man, who is married, initially tried to remove the glass himself, which proved to be unsuccessful.

Doctors Attempt to Remove Glass From Man’s Backside

After the man sought medical attention, medics provided information to the Journal of Nepal Medical Association, writing that the insertion of the glass made it impossible for the man to defecate for at least two days, but he could still pass gas.

The man apparently did not suffer from internal bleeding or any severe injury to his anus, but he was still reportedly in immense pain. When doctors performed X-rays, they found a fully intact water glass inside his anus.

Doctors originally wanted to perform a sigmoidoscopy on the patient, which would allow them to take a peek inside the man’s rectum with a bendable, light-up tube, but decided it would be too risky. The potential of the glass breaking inside the patient was too great to perform the procedure safely.

The medics then decided to attempt to pull out the glass by hand, but abandoned this idea after they realized the cup “could not be grasped for removal.” The doctors also revealed that there was a “significantly high risk of glass breakage which could, in turn, lead to injury to the bowel” with this technique.

Left with no other options, the medics decided to perform a sigmoid enterotomy and cut open the man’s stomach to finally retrieve the foreign object from inside him. The procedure was successful and the man received no further injuries. The patient had a pelvic drain inserted after the procedure, which is meant to monitor any leakages the man may be experiencing post-surgery.

After five days, the patient was able to defecate again, and after six, the drain was removed. The man was discharged after a week and had no complications post-surgery.

The doctors shared that many men between the ages of 30 and 40 are reported to have sustained similar injuries after inserting foreign objects inside their backsides. In England, it has been reported that there are about 400 cases a year of patients needing objects removed from their anus.
